Habitat for Humanity Prepares for "Blitz Build"
Volunteers are coming together to raise the roof this weekend, literally!
It's called "Blitz Build" for Habitat for Humanity.
Here's how it works:
Each day begins with a prepared floor and ends with a framed house under a roof at the end of the second day.
The mission is building the Sims family a home, making this the 63rd habitat house in Wood County.
"This is called the World of Hope house and the idea behind that is to help publicize what habitat does around the world. As we build homes here, we also donate to Habitat for Humanity international so that homes can be built overseas," says Executive Director, Alvin Phillips.
Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for the Blitz this Friday, June 1st and Saturday, June 2nd from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.
"We're able to do what we do because of the volunteers that we have. They're priceless to us. So it never hurts to get more in the fold. We have a great group of volunteers who are retired and volunteer with us probably every week on Thursday and Friday. So this would be great to maybe get some more Saturday volunteers in."
