Parkersburg Begins To Assess Damages From Storm

A little over a week after the storm and the city of Parkersburg continues to clean up, in hopes to move on quickly from last Friday night's devistation.

Parkersburg is one of the hardest hit cities in the mountain state.

With crews working around the clock to clean up the area, Mayor Bob Newell says things are starting to get back to normal.

Over 30 trees in City Park alone, plus downed lines and mountains of leaves and sticks have been cleaned up already.

Mayor Newell says as of Friday, all the main roads were clear of trees, lines, and debris.

"The sanitation department on their routines will continue to pick up debris and if it's too big for the trucks, They'll call the street cleaning and they'll come by to get it as well. The street cleaning is really just down to being routine now."
