I think it's good they are helping those that really need it, for instance when they've lost jobs, wages, etc. due to the economic downturn. However, I don't think it's right they are going to be bailing out a lot of people that bought more house than they could afford! I don't think those people should be given that assistance. I'm paying a mortgage every month, and would have loved a bigger house but knew it wasn't a good idea just in case something happened to either mine or my husband's job. If people bought houses they couldn't afford, the banks that allowed them to get that mortage should do something, not the taxpayers. Why are we paying for somebody elses ignorance?

Until you have walked in someone else's shoes I wouldn't comment. I am a single mother, work two jobs, and have worked these two jobs with dehabilitating health conditions. Don't judge me and say I don't sacrifice. I pay the city an extra $5 out of my paychecks (double dippers) and now find I'm paying for welfare cell phones when I can't even afford a home landline for my family. Unless you have experience the loss of a loved one, job loss due to closure, or impairing health conditions, please keep your negativity to yourself. We are all tax payers here. Have a little empathy for those in need!!!

so what is there going to be for those of us who bought conservatively, struggled, sacrificed, and paid off their mortgages? Now we get to sit and watch politician after politician promise and give people help with their financial messes. I am glad to see those who need help get it, but more likely than not, me as a taxpayer will end up helping people who did not save and spend wisely keep homes they couldnt afford in the first place. This whole issue stinks to high heaven!!!
