He was born at Spruce Creek on July 13, 1926, the last surviving son of the late Harvey and Georgia Bailey Smith. Milton graduated from Harrisville High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He worked in the garment factory in Harrisville, in the oil and gas industry and later retired from Union Carbide, Sistersville, all while farming his land. He was a member of Harris-Ritchie Post 3554 VFW and Spruce Creek Baptist Church.
Milton is survived by his wife of 64-1/2 years, Juna G. Reed Smith; daughters, Sharon McCormick of Harrisville, and Rose Ann Smith of St. Marys; sons, Larry Smith of Parkersburg, Joe Smith of Auburn, Bill Smith of Sand Fork, WV, Paul Smith of Spruce Creek and Dave Smith of Tanner; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James and Ronny Smith; five brothers, Floyd, Albert, Bailey, Jack and Edward Smith; one sister, Mabel Morris; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville. Pastor Ed Balis officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Spruce Creek Cemetery will full military rites by Harris-Ritchie Post 3554 VFW.. Friends may call at the funeral home, Friday from 4-8 PM.
