Students Sign Pledge to Make Good Decisions on Prom Night

Posted: 8:03 PM May 4, 2012
Reporter: Mollie Lair

Principal Tom Eschbacher says this pledge began nearly 20 years ago.

Prom night can be filled with big decisions and peer pressure for students. By signing the prom pledge they promise to make good decisions.

Mainly, not driving under the influence or getting into a car with someone who has been drinking.

Former POW and Iraqi War Veteran Jessica Lynch spoke to the students. Telling them to make smart decisions and dream big dreams.

"It's important for students to make good decisions. That's what it's all about is making a difference in how you answer a question. The peer pressure thing that kids go through. I think it's important for them to understand that it's OK to say no to some things and that it's alright to let somebody else know that you don't want to bow to the pressures that they're trying to put on you," says Principal Eschbacher.

McCrady-Jones Insurance and Vaughan Funeral Home combine to pay for a limo service and dinner for six for one lucky winner.

This year's winner is senior Dean Forshey.
