Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) is excited to announce the entertainment and event line-up for Belpre's 82nd Invitational Homecoming, set for July 31 and August 1-2, at Belpre's Civitan Park on the Ohio River off Blennerhassett Avenue.
Headlining the slate of entertainers for the weekend is "Hotel California, A Salute to the Eagles," appearing on Thursday, July 31. The band, composed of five respected, multi-talented top music industry professionals, presents a dynamic, exciting show saluting the music of the Eagles, a supergroup whose music has proven to have a staying power to which that few bands can lay claim. The Belpre Homecoming audience can once again experience the energy and magic of this timeless music, and listen to an exciting showcase of megahits including "Take It Easy", "Heartache Tonight", and "Hotel California", plus newer releases "Get Over It" and "Love Will Keep Us Alive". The group also performs select titles from the solo works of Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh.
For Belpre Homecoming's Youth Night Friday, August 1, the Homecoming Committee is proud to welcome country performer Tristen Smith. Tristen, from St. Clairsville, Ohio, is an accomplished guitarist and singer. At age 11 he won the Colgate Country Showdown and advanced to the WV State Finals. At age 12, he won Jamboree USA's Star Quest competition and later became the youngest performer to take the main stage at Jamboree in the Hills, performing for more than 60,000 fans.
Now at age 20, Tristen has shared the stage with Brad Paisley and Neal McCoy. He has opened for many major country music artists such as Hank Williams,Jr., Brooks and Dunn, and The Charlie Daniels Band. He currently attends Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. His songs showcasing his talent as a guitarist and vocalist include "Get Away", "Summer Girl", and "Be With You".
Taking the stage Saturday evening, Aug. 2, is an extraordinary country singer/songwriter from Northeast Ohio Zack Paxson. Belpre Homecoming Committee is proud to showcase his hit song "Ohio" to local fans as a musical tribute to the State of Ohio. His fans are spearheading a movement to make the song Ohio's official country song. Zack recorded his first cd "Good Luck with That" in 2011, and followed it with his second "A Simple Life", billed as "a collection of songs that stay true to his values and experiences, capturing the lifestyle that people from the country really live day in and day out."
When it's time to check in to "Hotel California" Thursday evening throughout the weekend, culminating at Belpre Homecoming's celebration of "Ohio", fans are certain to find reasons to come to Civitan Park early and stay late for music on the bank of the Ohio River.
Other traditional celebrations, attractions, food/crafter and commercial vendors will be present throughout the weekend. Belpre Chamber of Commerce, The Belpre Invitational Homecoming Association, and Belpre Lions Club will sponsor the 82nd Homecoming parade Saturday, August 2, beginning at 10 a.m. Bands, floats, pageant winners, business, church and non-profit units will greet residents and homecoming visitors on Belpre's streets. On Friday evening, watch for the Annual Car Show, sponsored by Leavitt's Funeral Home.
On the grounds of Civitan Park, crafters and home-based businesses will showcase their products at the Homecoming Craft show. Applications for a booth can be picked up at Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce, 713 Park Drive, Belpre, or by calling 740-423-8934.
Amusement rides are open throughout the event.
Non-profit, food, non-food and commercial vendors are welcome to set up booths or trailers throughout the event for the enjoyment of Homecoming visitors. Call the Chamber office for applications and pricing, or stop in at the office.
Belpre Homecoming Pageant program seeks to find children and youth to represent Belpre at civic functions and local events and the pageants are always a highlight of Belpre Homecoming. Contests include Little Mister ages 5-8 on July 31, Little Miss ages 5-8 on July 31, Junior Miss ages 9-12 on August 1, Miss Teen Belpre ages 13-16 on August 2, and Miss Belpre ages 17-20 on Aug. 2. Excitement is building for BACC's second "Duck Pluck" fundraiser offering cash prizes to lucky winners whose ducks are "plucked" from Belpre Municipal Swimming Pool on Saturday, Aug. 2. A $5 ticket gives purchasers a chance to win cash prizes totaling $1000. 5 tickets can be purchased for $20.
Sponsored exclusively by Belpre Savings Bank, tickets will be available at Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce office and the bank, plus local ticket outlets including Krogers, The Churn, Bob's Market, and Belpre Municipal Building. Proceeds go to support Homecoming events.
The Belpre Mile Road Race, sponsored by Memorial Health System, will kick off Saturday morning, August 2. For information and registration information, call the Chamber office.
