General Motors is voluntarily recalling 280,000 Cadillac DeVilles from the 2000 to 2002 model years.
GM says internal tests showed some vehicles had seat belt pre-tensioners that didn't perform properly.
Pre-tensioners help safety belts reduce a person's forward movement in moderate to severe frontal crashes. The devices being recalled were installed in the front driver and passenger seats.
GM says there have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to the condition.
Owners will be asked to take their DeVilles to dealers for free repairs.
