Marietta residents got a sneak peek at the plans for a proposed bike path Tuesday night.
The route would start at the Harmat Bridge, head through the fairgrounds, eventually ending up at the site of a proposed community center.
The price tag is $675,000. City leaders believe it will be an economic boost to the Pioneer City. "The construction price of the actual construction concrete most people look at is only a small portion of the overall project,” says Marietta City Councilman Mike McCauley.
Depending on public support, Marietta could receive $1 million in state funds for the project. Construction is expected to start next spring and take a year to complete.
