Groundbreaking

Blueprint

Gov. Bob Wise took part Wednesday in groundbreaking for a $4.8 million tourist welcome center near Interstate 77 in Williamstown.

It's hoped the state-of-the-art center will boost the area's economy, and especially the economy of Williamstown.

"It's very important economically," says Mayor Jean Ford: "We have Fenton (Glass), and restaurants and businesses. It'll just mean a big boost to our city."

Construction on the welcome center is expected to start within the next 30 days.

The new center will replace the current tourist information stop, located south of Mineral Wells.
