Things look a bit brighter in front of Parkersburg city hall.
Two soldiers, back home from Iraq, were called on by Mayor Jimmy Colombo to light the city's holiday Christmas tree Monday night.
A year ago, both military men were overseas, including one we spoke to from the 1092nd engineer company.
"Last Christmas, we were in Tikrit for about 12 months, away from family and friends," Major Stephens says. "It's really great to be back home; it's really a blessing to be back over the Christmas holidays."
Major Stephens also says the 1092nd company isn't likely to be called back to service in Iraq.
In addition to the soldiers, a children's choir and the Salvation Army band performed holiday tunes for those who turned out for the tree lighting.
