With one exception, Ohio counties in our viewing area overwhelmingly approved the amendment to the state constitution banning same-sex marriages.
In fact, Athens County, the location of Ohio University was the only county in the Buckeye State where the amendment went down to defeat.
While that defeat was by three thousand votes, other area counties approved the issue by a more than two-to-one margin.
In Monroe and Gallia Counties, the approval ratio was nearly five to one.
The measure will take effect in Ohio December second. Here's the local breakdown:
Washington Co. 20,431 (yes) 7787(no)
Athens Co. 11,921 14,735
Meigs Co. 7,705 2,546
