While it happened in the heart of the Midwest, Wednesday's Nebraska shooting is raising the issue of security at shopping malls all over the country.
The management of the Grand Central Mall says it has round-the-clock security, as well as a good relationship with the Vienna Police Department.
But officials add the public can also play a role in making sure incidents like the mass shooting in Omaha don't happen here.
"I think if anyone sees anything out of the ordinary that might be a potential problem," says Mall Manager Christy Swisher, "we have a lot of support staff out in the mall on a consistent basis, and report it to anyone you see."
Swisher says the mall maintains the same amount of security during the holidays as it does throughout the year.
