Mayor Newell Appointed to National League of Cities

The National League of Cities has appointed Mayor Bob Newell to the Energy Committee, a position fitting this energy producing state.

Newell will be integral in shaping NLC's policies and ensuring all the states and cities are represented fairly on Capitol Hill. But he does have a particular interest here at home.

"I'm the only one in West Virginia that's on the National League of Cities board of directors," Newell says. "The other guy from Clarksburg that was on with me just retired, so there's just one of us left. Being an energy producing state, of course we have a lot to say about Marcellus shale drilling, fracking and those type of things. That's one of the reasons I was appointed to the board."

Newell says the Mountain State is very invested in Marcellus shale and it could be the future of West Virginia. He adds that we are pro energy and pro drilling.
