A congestive heart failure clinic is set to open next month at Camden Clark Medical Center's St. Joseph Campus.

Dr. David Gnegy, cardiologist with Parkersburg Cardiology Associates says CHF is one of the leading causes of hospitalization for patients.

A lot of money and time is spent taking care of patients with heart failure in the hospital.

“Our goal is to take better care of these patients hoping to keep them out of the hospital for longer periods of time so they can enjoy life at home and a better quality of life,” Gnegy says.

Initially when the clinic opens they'll see all the patients admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of heart failure, making sure they're on the proper meds and have the proper testing done.

Then they'll follow them very closely in the outpatient setting.
