Wood County 911 is recognized for its progressiveness and efficiency.
The high praise came from a Cincinnati investigative reporter and the chief dispatcher from the New York City Fire Department.
While they're honored to be a model center, Executive Director Randy Lowe says they're going to continue to try to improve.
“Not only do we get recognized by our local media but we had a visit paid to us by an ABC affiliate out of Cincinnati, Ohio," Lowe says. "They wanted to do a story on us or feature a story on us as a model 911 center."
He says we are very fortunate in West Virginia to have a state legislature concerned about 911 issues.
They fund the 911 centers throughout the state and put a lot of emphasis on training standards.
