Last year a Marietta native was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and now he's in the fight of his life.
Tom Pethtel, a 22-year-old Marietta high school graduate, currently a student at Georgia Tech urgently needs to find a bone marrow donor.
His first rounds of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant didn't take so he's looking for another life-saving transplant.
You can help Tom at his Swab-a-Thon this Friday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
“To get another stem cell transplant is really about my only opportunity at hopefully putting this disease in remission and eventually a cure,” Pethtel says. “It really is a life-saving opportunity and kind of my last opportunity.”
Pethtel says he cannot emphasize enough how important the Swab-a-Thon is. To be on the registry could mean having the chance to save his life or someone else's.
You never know when it could be one of your family members or friends in need.
