Red Cross Taking Donations for Disaster Relief Fund

American Red Cross volunteers are hoping to reach a new high with this week's fundraising efforts outside the WTAP studio.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter is doing it's part Wednesday and Thursday to help raise money for hurricane victims across the nation.

They've were out from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. helping collect donations.

The event is helping kick-off West Virginia's attempt to raise its goal of $430,000.

So far the Red Cross has made about $3,000.

Volunteers will be out again Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    You just reported on the noon news that only 9 cents out of every dollar stays here? That's not much. Shouldn't it be at least 50/50? I mean it is local money that should stay local. Right!!!

    Is all of the money leaving the area...or will some of it stay local???
