First 100 Days in Office

Now that President Barack Obama is officially in office, many people will be looking at his progress in his first 100 days.

Wednesday we spoke to political science professor Jacqueline DeLaat who said the president's top priority to start off with is the economic stimulus check that he has asked congress for.

DeLaat said another issue that needs attention early in the presidency is redirecting efforts in Iraq.

However, she said the first 100 days in office aren't the most critical.

"I think sometimes we can overdo this quick start aspect, and sort of what we really want here is a successful presidency over four years," DeLatt said.

She also said the "100 days" idea comes from when Franklin Roosevelt was in office, who had the quickest and most effective start.

to Butch: Ha, you wish his plan were to just let them go. Rather, it's more like proving they're actually unworthy of going. It takes much more than a man to be fair to those that don't deserve it. I fathom Obama doing something for the working people (by working people, I assume you mean the middle class, not those that were working in the WH and making $100k probably just because they work in the WH). We'll get better than what we got with Bush, or would with McCain. to lg: No, he didn't (though I agree I think he could). But I doubt McCain would've either.

yea, his plan is to just let them go so they can kill more american soldiers. as for talking to foreign leaders, you mean giving in to them. instead of freezing their saleries, how about giving the working people a raise.

Already talked to four foreign leaders on the topic of peace, froze the salaries of those in the WH making more than $100k, and has halted Guatánamo Bay prosecutions (though hopefully has a good plan for the evil people there). Just the first day's been great. Here's to 99 more.
