Law enforcement agencies in Marietta and Washington County are cracking down on those involved with drugs.

Thursday night authorities searched a house they believed to be used for drug trafficking, and their hard work isn't going unnoticed by the public.

Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a hand gun are some of the items recovered as the Major Crimes Task Force searched a house in Marietta. Authorities also arrested 20-year-old Trent Mason in connection with drug trafficking. It's something folks in the area say is really becoming a problem.

"I think there's a lot of drugs in the area," Carmen Gates, a Wood County resident, said.

"I've been back in town six years and there's just kind of a dark hole that exists," Anne Gray, a Marietta resident, said.

A dark hole that law enforcement officers are doing their best to shine some light on.

"They're sniffing them out. They're doing a good job. They're finding them for sure," Gray said.

But not without a little help from the public.

"I think they've got a lot of people out there that are watching and probably a lot of private citizens that are keeping their eyes open, and so I think that they're really doing a good job," Gates said.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks said this investigation is ongoing and more arrests are pending.

Trent Mason was arraigned Friday afternoon on a $5,000 bond.

Why wont u guys say anything about the police killing the dog in the house...They say the dog charged them but his blood is in the corner...Nobody even heard the gun shots go off...So if the dog was trying to attack them and they had to shoot him u would hear the gun shot espically if ur in the same home one floor above them..The dog was hiding in the corner because he was scared of all the noise...

It dont say anything about when they raided that house that they shot their beautiful chocolate pit and left the blood on the floor...They say that the dog charged them but i kno that dog personally and i kno it would never harm a soul... Plus the blood was left in the corner where the dog was hiding from all the noise...So thanks marietta's Finest....

If the cops didn't have to worry about so much litigation, proceedure, and counter suites, then it would be a lot easier for them to arrest more drug dealers. the simple fact is that there is so much red tape to go around thats its not just bag and tag them. Investigations take time. Great job Washington S/O.

well i think for all of you snitches out there that there is someone out there who will get you in return! so i think you should think before you snitch! and i think all the cops here only single out certain people here in this town! why dont you all get a clue and wash out the west-side instead of worrying bout all the small timers and actually use our tax money for some good use and stop worrying bout the small people and go for the big guys!

I think it's a waste to bust someone for marijuana. And then to make a big deal about it? Marijuana possession is a minor misdemeanor. You could rack up heavier charges on someone for not paying parking tickets.

A little vigilante justice--a 12 ga. shotgun and or a large oak tree and 30 ft. of rope will surely solve this problem!!!

Call and speak to a supervisor and give the information again. Thanks
