A Little Hocking man will spend almost a decade behind bars for crimes he initially ran from, and resulted in a manhunt across several states.

The Washington County Prosecutor's office says Patrick Slider was sentenced to nine years in prison Friday morning in Marietta Municipal Court on drug possession, trafficking and theft charges.

This sentencing stems from a plea agreement reached last year on drug and trafficking charges.

Slider was facing the charges following an incident in March of 2008 where authorities say he stole pills from Stericycle, a company that discards controlled substances for hospitals and nursing homes, but he fled before going to trial for those charges.

That lead police on a manhunt across several states, ending in his arrest in September, in Michigan.

Slider will be facing other charges including aggravated robbery next Thursday in Athens County.

To the children, stay behind your dad, it's important to him. I did time with him in 2003 and he felt bad then because he loved you two alot and he had to be away from you. Take care of yourselves too. He will need to know that you will be ok for him to stay strong. Good luck to you.

Where's the attempting to flee prosecution charges? Do we even have a REAL prosecutor in Washington County?

Drug charges a man hunt and possibly robbery. If the robbery charges stick he needs to serve at min. 25 years

9 years with a chance of getting out early is nothing more than the "Washington County Slap On The Hand". He'll just do the time and come out and do it all over again.

Being sentenced to nine years does not necessarily mean "will spend almost a decade behind bars". It could mean as little as three. Isn't that better, for him, then the eighty-four years he could have recieved just for these drug charges?
