A Little Hocking man accused of robbing an Athens County bank last year was back in court Thursday morning.

Patrick Slider was in Athens County Common Pleas Court for a pre-trial hearing, where a suppression hearing was set for June 15 and 16.

Slider is facing numerous charges including aggravated robbery, kidnapping, inducing panic, tampering with evidence, unlawful use of a hoax weapon of mass destruction and burglary.

The charges stem from an incident where authorities say Slider planted a fake pipe bomb at two post offices while he robbed the Hocking Valley Bank in July of 2008.

Slider will now head back to the Washington County Jail to serve his sentence there for drug and theft charges.

The only bright spot I can see in this would be if a lot of corrupt politicians were to join him in jail.

Those of you who cast the first stone please remember that this is someones family this is someone who is loved very much. Dont believe everything thats on the news and said. Yes he made some mistakes. He's not the only one thats serving time and being prosecuted. He could be your brother, your son, your loved one. I pray every day that it will better, that only if. Pray that it never ever happens to you or someone you know, and that people wont be so mean and hateful.

This should be remembered by anyone desiring a new prosecutor for Washington Country the next time we elect one.

The sentence that Slider received in Wash. a joke. The Wash. Co. and prosecutor bear responsibility for this. Slider was indicted for crimes that carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years for just one count. There is no way to determine the amount of drugs stolen by Slider from Stericycle that were sold and redistributed This is unacceptable from our elected officials. The people of this community need to stand up and demand proper sentencing of these drug dealers. Recent media coverage of overdose deaths in this area are directly linked with prescription meds. The same meds stolen and sold by Slider. While out on bond in Wash Co Slider stole a car, robbed a bank and placed pipe bombs at a post office. Not to mention 2 burglaries. Hopefully Athens Co will not be as negligent as Wash Co. The media needs to investigate the convictions of drug traffickers in Wash Co and the sentences they receive. Its a Joke!

The fleeing was part of the plea deal in Washington County. He got 9 years for what he pled to.

Where are the charges for fleeing from prosecution? If you run from an officer, after driving through a red light, you can be charged with felony fleeing. What Slider did, and is accused of doing, is a little more significant than eluding a traffic stop.
