Easy Money?

Updated: Wed 5:17 PM, Jul 30, 2003

Just after noon on Wednesday, a search of the woods along west Fourth Street resulted in the recovery of two crowbars believed used late Monday night, to remove an estimated $30,000 from this car.

Apparently, they brought crowbars knowing there was cash in the car, and then after breaking into to the car with these tire irons, they deposited them on the way to their getaway car.

Nathan McDermott of Williamstown, Joshua Thompson of Parkersburg and Russell Trough of Vincent were apprehended during an early morning routine stop in new Martinsville. That, say authorities, was after they used part of the money to buy large amounts of marijuana in Moundsville, and a car.

Brookover said he kept the money in his car for his wife's future. He says he'd rather put it there, than in his home or in the bank. And he says he would have given it away, even to the three suspects.

McDermott, Thompson and Traugh are now in the north central regional jail.

The suspects face charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in Wetzel County.

In Wood County, they're expected to face charges of grand larceny, conspiracy to commit grand larceny, and breaking and entering charges.
