After an alleged assault happened at Marietta College just weeks ago, the campus police department is working to keep students safe.

They're offering a women's self defense class.

Chief David Valkinburg says because of the high number of students interested, the first four will only be available to Marietta College students.

But he says if all goes well, they may also open classes to the public later on.

Why now? isn't it a little late after the fact? This should be done as soon as students begin the school year and again midway..this should be a part of the criteria when entering a college, as always you have to wait for something to happen before something is done.
