Charleston, WV (AP) -- West Virginia businesses are being put on notice to file their annual reports with the Secretary of State's office or face possible fines.

Secretary of State Natalie Tennant's office says about 8,700 limited liability and professional limited liability businesses have missed the April 1 filing deadline.

That's out of 30,000 registered to do business in the state.

The office is giving businesses until June 1 to submit their reports to avoid paying extra fees and the risk of being administratively dissolved.

Tennant's office says businesses can avoid missing the filing deadlines if they sign up to file their reports online.

Information for online filing can be found at www.business4wv.com.
