As farmers prepare their crops to sell at local markets, some senior citizens are preparing to buy them.

Because of the Farmer's Market Senior Nutrition Program, many will be getting some good deals this season.

Seniors who meet certain income guidelines can get $50 worth of coupons to use at various farmer markets and stands in the area.

"I really wanted to get my coupons this year because last year when the application was being accepted, I was low man on the totem pole and didn't' get any, so I'm looking forward to the fresh fruits and vegetables," Alice White, a senior citizen, said.

Coupons were given out Wednesday at the Belpre Senior Citizens Center, and will be handed out at other Washington County locations through Tuesday.

For more information, you can call the Area Agency on Aging or the O'Neill Senior Center.
