Annual Fishing Derby Set For This Weekend

The city of Parkersburg is gearing up for its annual fishing derby.

The Mountain State Fish Hatchery has stocked up the ponds at Parkersburg City Park and Southwood Park for the event.

This years fishing derby kicks off at 9:00am and goes till Noon on Saturday.

The competition is free and is opened to anglers ages three to fourteen.

This is the 29th year for the competition.

Winners will be judged in first, second and third place in each age group.

One lucky fisher will have the chance to reel in a special golden trout, winning a $100 cash prize.

    This event is sponsored, financed, and planned by the Wood County Recreation Commission and community donations, not the City of Parkersburg. I think this is probably an important bit of information.
