Friendlier Skies?

With the airline industry still in turmoil, a top airline official wants to continue his company's commitment to our area. Phoenix-based Mesa Airways operates U.S. Air Express, which has served the mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport for nearly 25 years.

With some brief exceptions, that line has primarily connected local fliers to Pittsburgh, but everyone including the airlines would like to see that expanded.

“If you look at other communities across the country, there are a lot of them who would love to be able to have five flights a day. I'd love to be able to expand service, whether that's different hubs or more frequency, that's part of the reason we came today, to open up that line of communication,” says Scott Lyon, VP of Mesa Air Group.

Lyon says while larger airlines continue to have financial troubles, Mesa has remained profitable.
