One person is dead, and another injured, after a head-on collision Monday morning just south of Newport, Ohio.

It's an accident which had traffic tied up nearly all morning.

Investigators say a van driven by 35-year-old Serena Farson collided with 30-year-old James Duncan's car at 8:20 a.m. Monday.

The van struck the car after it came out of a slight curve on state route seven.

“The van was traveling northbound on (Ohio Route) 7, the car was southbound on 7. Our investigation says the van went left of center, striking the car. Both drivers had their safety belts on,” says Lt. Pfieffer of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Duncan, who is from Sunbury, Ohio, died shortly after the collision.

Farson, who is from Saint Mary’s (West Virginia), was taken by helicopter to Cabell-Huntington Hospital.

No citations have yet been issued by the patrol. And we have more details tonight on a a car crash over the weekend, which killed a Vincent man.

Ohio State Highway Patrol officers say Paul Bonar died early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle accident on County Road Three, just west of Ohio-339.

Lt. Pfiefer says a second car, driven by 30-year-old Alexander Winters of Logan, Ohio, struck Bonar's car after rounding a curve on County Road Three.

An unidentified juvenile also was injured in the accident.
