Given the closings of some elementary schools in recent years, some parents think there's an overcrowding problem in Wood County kindergartens.
But Supt. Bill Niday says first-day numbers don't confirm that.
Tuesday's kindergarten class attendance was up by only eight students from last year.
Niday adds, however, an extra teacher was brought into Williamstown Elementary School, to deal with class size issues.
"There were some areas where we were crowded in kindergartens. We have made some adjustments; we hope that solved a problem in Williamstown, and may also have helped Vienna that had some problems. We hope that portion may have helped several schools," says Niday.
Niday also confirms that because of corridor d construction and afternoon traffic, some buses ran up to 25 minutes late Tuesday.
