Summer vacation is just around the corner, but that might be a mixed blessing for parents who need a little help making sure their kids are properly fed, but fortunately, help is available.
The Summer Food Service Program makes meals available to children throughout the summer.
The program has meal sites in 29 Ohio counties.
Officials say in these tough economic times, they're seeing a greater demand for nutritious meals for children.
"They get fed breakfast and lunch while they're in the classroom. When summer comes, those same families that are probably not in the best economic standing now have hungry mouths to feed when they're there," Beth Castner, Appalachian Nutrition Network CEO, said.
