WV Gov Cites Error, Vetoes Health Care Bill

Charleston, WV (AP) -- More health care legislation has fallen to the veto pen, but this time Gov. Joe Manchin says a technical error is to blame.

Manchin has disapproved a bill that would create the Governor's Office of Health Enhancement and Lifestyle Planning, or Go Help.

The office would coordinate state activities and oversee changes to West Virginia's health care system.

It would also test a new model for providing health known as medical homes.

Manchin has also voided a bill that would have increased payments to behavioral health centers.

But the Governor wants lawmakers to revive and fix the go help measure when they return later this month.

Manchin said the regular session version left out language governing an advisory council, leaving it fatally flawed.
