The city of Marietta is another step closer to getting a new state of the art skate park.

Mayor Michael Mullen says the park has received a $5,000 grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation.

This is in addition to many other grants that will help fund the quarter of a million dollar facility.

Mayor Mullen says this particular grant is a very significant one.

"To be recognized with a grant from that foundation certainly was a prestigious thing for the local skaters, and says a lot about the quality of the design and the quality of park we're going to end up with," Mayor Mullen said.

The site at Indian Acres will go under construction in just a few weeks.

Oh Sam! Really. Not necessary! I think it's a wonderful idea. I always see neighbor boys skateboarding in the streets. Safe place, and gives these children something do!

This will be a good place for all the teenage juveniles to smoke their cigs and use drugs. This will help keep them away from the good kids playing sports and things..........

Meanwhile, Uncle Bob and his council of merry men have done little for a skate park in Parkersburg. Just not another photo op in it for him, so why bother. Oh, and thanks for the "tar and gravel" pothole filler, I got a chip in my windshield compliments of the stuff that does little for the pothole. No wonder Marietta gets top billing on the news, Parkersburg is lame. Bob, bring some life to downtown!!
