The Mountaineer Spring Classic Dog Show kicked off Thursday at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
More than 100 breeds of dogs, their owners and fans from all over the country gathered for the event.
We caught up with a few dog owners who say their pets aren't only winners, but are also their best friends.
"They keep constant supervision of us. Somebody needs to be in control," Eileen Bair said.
"I'm diabetic and what he does is he alerts me if my blood sugar gets out of sorts," Wayne Collins said.
"He's my buddy. He looks a lot like me," John Priest said.
The shows will continue through Sunday, starting at 8:00 each morning and going until about 2:30 in the afternoon.
