Parkersburg city council has given final approval to the sale of a downtown parcel to be used for a public debt parking lot.
A developer is buying the property at fourth and Avery streets, and leasing the property to the bureau of public debt.
The city purchased the property in 1999, and in late 2001, reached a deal for construction of a new public debt building there.
Mayor Jimmy Colombo said the city will construct the lot, and charge $35 a month to rent spaces.
The lot will provide more than 220 spaces.
