Buckhannon, W.Va. (AP) -- More than 1,500 members of West Virginia's largest church are expected to gather this week for the United Methodist Church's annual state conference.

The conference is scheduled to run from Thursday to Sunday on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon.

The agenda calls for worship, the adoption of amendments to the church's constitution and a state of the church address.

Bishop Ernest S. Lyght will preside over the session.

About 1,200 churches, representing people in West Virginia and Garrett County, MD., are members of the West Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church.

The conference does not include churches in the eastern panhandle.
