Martinsburg, W.Va. (AP) -- The body of a Martinsburg woman found in her home after the end of a hostage standoff has been sent to Charleston for an autopsy.

State police say the 26-hour standoff ended about 2 p.m. Monday after officers lobbed gas into the home and stormed inside.

Troopers identified the victim as 35-year-old Katherine Nicole Sharpe. Capt. Rob Blair says the State Medical Examiner's Office will determine how she died.

Blair says her ex-boyfriend, 37-year-old Donald Berkeley Surber of Winchester, VA., was taken to the Eastern Regional Jail on a kidnapping charge.

State police say additional charges will be sought after an investigation.
