An Athens County man will spend at least 28 years behind bars after being convicted of murder.

Thursday evening an Athens County jury found Phillip Boler guilty of murder with a gun specification and aggravated robbery.

Officials with the Athens County Prosecutor's Office said Friday morning Boler was sentenced to 28 years to life in prison.

Boler and 3 other men are accused of shooting and killing Donnie Putnam in a New Marshfield home in February.

Boler is the first to go to trial for the incident.

The other three suspects have trials set throughout the summer.
