The largest and quite possibly one of the oldest trees in Parkersburg may have met its end.
The tree has a 15 foot base, it was struck by lightning and brought down a power line and caused a gas leak.
The fire department quickly got the line shut down and were waiting for Allegheny Power to take care of the power line.
The owner's daughter was inside the house when she heard the commotion outside.
