Two city employees in Marietta have filed grievances to get their jobs back.

Firefighter John Brooks and Police Officer Joseph Hilverding were terminated after 27-year-old Crystle Phillips made allegations of misconduct against them and other authority figures.

City Safety-Service Director Chad Presley says he has now received discharge grievances from Brooks and Hilverding.

Presley says both men, as well as the city, will have a chance to make statements about the grievances, before an arbitrator comes in to make a decision.

2 things: 1. BOTH WILL get their careers back. 2. Both never should have lost jobs to begin with. ANYWHERE else, especially a large city...no one would have cared. It amazes me how much you townies seem "outraged" get a life, this isnt that big of a deal. Wake up folks, this isnt anything. I admire all professional firefighters and police officers. These guys dont deserve to lose their jobs, pension etc. Both make over 50k per year, those are tough jobs to find. I personally, am self employed for over 20 years, i moved from Belpre 13 years ago to pursue a career in engineering (my own business), i am ashamed in the "moral superiority" that some of the locals have in the m.o.v. Sad really. For what it is worth, i havnt known nor heard of either of these men before this, but ya know....Bill Clinton didnt lose his job.......

TaxPayerDemandsJustice....You dont have due process in civil service.. If so then they are in the appeal portion which they are entitled to. Chill out and get a life.

If there was no PROOF it would have been swept under the rug. Due process has been served gentlemen you ARE GUILTY AS CHARGED. What amazes me is Why you havent been charged with a crime but then again you belong to the good ole boys club in washington county. There should be an outside prosector appointed for a True Investigation but it wont happen. the Good Oleboys Club is alive and well in Marietta Ohio and Washington County.
