Ohio City's Traffic Cameras Ticket People Too Soon

Heath, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio community jumped the gun with its traffic-camera program by one day and is now dismissing scores of tickets.

Motorists in Heath caught by the city's red-light and speeder cameras were meant to receive warning notices before July 1, the date ticketing was supposed to begin.

But the mayor said in a news release this week that 265 citations were mistakenly issued on June 30, so they'll be dismissed.

Mayor Richard Waugh says the error was the result of an oversight and says any fines that have already been paid to the city 30 miles east of Columbus will be refunded.
