Romney, W.Va. (Ap) -- The Hampshire County Board of Education has agreed to pay roughly $192,000 to former state lawmaker Jerry Mezzatesta in exchange for his resignation.
The settlement in Hampshire County Circuit Court was approved this month, although the state consolidated retirement board still has to sign off on it.
In addition to the money, Mezzatesta will be credited with 100 vacation days and 90 personal days to be used for health insurance purposes.
In exchange, Mezzatesta will agree not to file any future lawsuits against the board.
Mezzatesta lost his job as a community specialist/administrative assistant in 2005 amid federal ethics charges, of which he was later acquitted.
The Former House Education Committee Chairman was rehired this year after a judge ruled he should be reinstated.
