The general election is months away, but if there's a candidate or issue you want put on the ballot in Washington County, time is running out.
Local issue petitions and nominating petitions of candidates in nonpartisan races must be filed with the Washington County Board of Elections by August 20th at 4:00 p.m.
Officials say if you're interested but need more information on the process, to just call or stop by the elections office on the ground floor of the Courthouse.
"We have some books available, and we hope that people take an interest in the process and give us a call and see what needs to be done for them to be placed on the ballot for an office," Tara Hupp, deputy director of the board of elections, said.
The number for the Washington County Board of Elections is 740-374-6828.
