Parkersburg, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia's largest private insurer is preparing to celebrate the opening of its new headquarters.

Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shied has scheduled a Sept. 17 ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new building in downtown Parkersburg.

Mountain State's former headquarters was located in a building more than 100 years old.

The insurer also leased space in three other buildings in Parkersburg.

Burdette says all the insurer's Parkersburg employees have moved into the new building.

Remaining work includes a restaurant, parking and a plaza.

Mountain State employs nearly 1,000 workers in Parkersburg, Charleston, Wheeling and Weirton.

It provides or administers health care coverage to more than 450,000 West Virginians.
