The Memorial Toll Bridge shut down Monday night for some repair work, so traffic on that span was diverted to the Belpre-Parkersburg Bridge into downtown Parkersburg.
But painting work is still in progress on that bridge, and traffic in both directions is reduced to one lane.
That meant, with the additional vehicles, traffic at times slowed to a crawl.
To add to the headaches, paving work is under way in downtown Parkersburg, meaning motorists driving through downtown had to contend with that as well.
The Memorial Toll Bridge is tentatively set to re-open Wednesday night at 10 p.m. Keep in mind; however, that the work was originally slated to be finished by Wednesday morning, so other delays are possible.
