Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- State flags across West Virginia are being lowered to half-staff in honor of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.
Gov. Joe Manchin issued the order Wednesday. President Barack Obama earlier ordered U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff on all federal buildings.
Kennedy died late Tuesday night at age 77, a year after the Massachusetts senator was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Manchin's order is effective through Saturday, when Kennedy will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery after a funeral mass in Boston.
