An agreement signed Friday between the Wood County Board of Education and Ohio Valley College moves the practical nursing program to the college's campus.

The two school systems will operate the program jointly, but OVC's administration believes having the program at the college will have a benefit for the participants.

"It will provide the opportunity for students to receive college credit," says college president Robert Stephens, "and they will do their work not in relation to high school students, but with other adults. It will be a much more conducive learning environment for the adults who are part of the practical nursing program."

Moving the program from Parkersburg South High School, where the Board of Education has held classes, will also free up more space for other instructional programs.

Wood County Schools has also jointly operated the Caperton Center for Applied Technology, since that complex's opening in 1999.
