Soldiers From Ohio, Tenn. Killed In Afghanistan

Washington, D.C. (AP) -- The Department of Defense says two soldiers have died in Afghanistan when the vehicle they were in rolled over.

Twenty-year-old Spc. Corey Kowall of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and 23-year-old Spc. Damon Winkleman, of Lakeville, Ohio, died Sunday in Zabul Province.

Kowall's father, C.J. Kowall, says his son was responding to help a convoy that had when the vehicle crashed.

He calls him his hero who "died for his country because that is what he believed he was chosen to do."

They soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat team, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

Maj. Brian Fickel of the 82nd Airborne says the brigade deployed to Afghanistan about a month ago.

    I just want to say my thoughts and prayers go out to families and friends of the fallen soldiers. They are heros to me and I want to tell there families thanks for what their sons did for me ,my son, my country! God Bless all our troops out there.
