Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- A group that helps people who were sexually abused by priests or other clergy has started a West Virginia chapter.

Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests is the oldest and largest self-help support group for clergy-abuse victims.

Ohio Valley regional director Judy Jones said she hopes to raise awareness across the state while encouraging victims to come forward.

Jones joined snap after learning that a clergy member had abused her brother.

The group will hold its first meeting Tuesday night in St. Albans.
