Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- Environmental activists are planning two weekend rallies to support the creation of green jobs and the passage of climate change legislation.
Saturday's rally at the capitol in Charleston, organized by 1sky West Virginia, is part of an International Day of Action on Climate Crisis.
On Sunday, a rally promoting a sustainable future for appalachia will be held at Marshall University.
Speakers include former congressman Ken Hechler and Larry Gibson of the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition.
That event culminates in a march to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' office in Huntington.
The Corps recently held hearings in several states where angry coal miners shouted down environmentalists who attended to protest mountaintop removal mining.
