An Athens toddler who tested positive for Influenza A has died but the coroner is waiting for autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

Athens County Coroner Dr. Harold Thompson said a three-year-old child whose name is not being released died Thursday.

He said the child had a fever and died rather suddenly but it is unclear what the child died from.

Doctor Thompson said the toddler could have died from complications of the H1N1 virus or other illnesses in addition to it.

The coroner is expecting autopsy results in six to eight weeks.
